Best PhD and Teacher awards of 2024 to SWAN scientists Hazem Ibrahim and Kirmo Wartiovaara

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki, has awarded the Best Doctoral Thesis 2024 prize to Dr. Hazem Ibrahim. Hazem completed his thesis "Monogenic Diabetes Modelling Using Genetically Engineered Human Pluripotent Stem Cells" in the Stem Cells and Metabolism Research Program and was supervised by Professor Timo Otonkoski.
 

The Impactus ry - the Student Organization for Translational Medicine Master's Students, University of Helsinki - chose Senior Researcher Dr. Kirmo Wartiovaara as the Best Lecturer of 2024. Kirmo leads his own research group in Stem Cells and Metabolism Research Program and has written several scientific books for the general audience.
